Frequently asked questions.
Everything about how Babyndex works, who it's for, and what to expect.
How does the saliva ovulation test work?+
As estrogen rises in the days before ovulation, dried saliva forms fern-shaped crystals. You put a drop of saliva on the microscope lens, let it dry, photograph it with the Babyndex app, and the app recognises the pattern to estimate your fertility for that day.
How accurate is it?+
A 2018 Harvard Medical School study found that automated saliva crystal detection — the same approach Babyndex uses — predicts ovulation with greater than 99% accuracy.
Can I use Babyndex if I have PCOS?+
Polycystic ovary syndrome can change the saliva pattern, so the test may be less accurate. You can still try it across a full cycle; if it doesn't work for you, send the microscope back and we'll refund its price.
What about irregular cycles?+
Saliva crystals reflect your actual hormone state, not a calendar prediction, so irregular cycles are not a barrier. Test daily for a full cycle to see how your patterns change.
Does it work if I'm on hormonal contraception?+
No. Hormonal contraceptives suppress the estrogen rise and the ovulation that produce the fern pattern, so Babyndex will not show fertile-day crystals.
Can I use it to avoid pregnancy?+
No. Babyndex is intended to help you find your most fertile days for conception. It is not a contraceptive method.
When should I take the test?+
First thing in the morning, before eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth, gives the cleanest sample. Test every day for a full cycle to learn your pattern.
Where do you ship?+
Across Europe. Standard shipping takes 1–5 business days.
What if it doesn't work for me?+
Use it for a full cycle. If you don't see any saliva crystals during that time, return the microscope and we'll refund its price.
